Something Old to Something New and FREE

After STAAR testing this week I was going through a Really Good Stuff magazine (I think I dog eared almost all the pages) and found a math game that looks very similar to an old game we have at home in our game closet.  So I started thinking, this looks really fun......I don't have any extra money...how can I make this game???  This is what I came up with and the kids LOVED it!  So, I'm sharing this with you and I hope your kids LOVE it too.

Old Game

New Game
You can download the game {here}.  We have played this with our hundreds board so they understood that they could only use math vocabulary to ask questions.

Okay, I'm a little all over the place right now but I'm LOVIN' Saturday...it was a beautiful day.  We started our weekend with my big Sass' last high school baseball game for his sophomore year (time is going too fast).  <---yes, just high school, he will begin his summer baseball soon...plenty more baseball to come.

Then my sweet little Sass started our Saturday with some softball.

OH!OH!OH........And guess what my LOVE got me for our anniversary????

A new ipad!!  I am super excited.  Yea, our anny is in June.  He said that he couldn't wait to give it to me and I'm okay with that.:)  Now, what apps should I get???

Sweet Dreams!!

First Linky!!! Monday Made It.....

Well, this is my. very. first. linky. linkup. (GASP!)  It took my friend Michelle  to explain this to me.  really?! .......I was just kinda afraid I'd mess something up. BUT now that I've explained that this is my first time, I'm sure y'all will be forgiving.  right?  Obviously, I have been busy crafting but nothing for my classroom (soon....very soon, I will) so I thought, what a perfect linky to begin with.  I'm linking up with  Tara at 4th Grade Frolic This little craft is bitter sweet.  My lil' sass and I transformed her Disney Princess toy box (once again, i feel the need to explain our floor renovations....please excuse our mess) into a big girl storage chest.  A friend bought me some contact paper from TJ Max and that is what I used to cover the lid.  She LOVES it!   Okay in other news, our swimming pool motor blew up (smoke and all) on the very first Saturday we were out of school.  Geeezz!!--and it took a WHOLE week for the new motor to

Sight Word Book Freebie

I love to use my word wall in the classroom for lots of activities but I REALLY, REALLY like it when the kids use it as a reference.  (kinda the point, huh) :) - Yea, I know.  This year I have put together a personal book for each kiddo that they will be able to reference and I can quickly use it to assess their sight word recognition.   These sight words specifically follow the Texas Journeys Reading Basal for 2nd grade.  Anyone can use this but I've used the 300 sight words in the order of this series.   Each Friday I will listen to the students read the list of of words to me.  I plan to use a different highlighter for each week to mark a word that the student struggles with and we can spend more one on one time in small group for mastery.   I'm going to place the booklets on rings like you see above and hang from hooks on the back of a cabinet.   My goal this year is to FEEL like I'm on top of things...................rather than slowly drowning. :)  If this is
