Getting Things Ready for the BTS

I'm sure you can picture my cabinets at the house and I'm positive that I would drive some of you crazy but my sweet family has learned to LOVE it....I think.  Josh doesn't even ask me anymore if I want him to save....this or that, he just washes the container and puts it away for me.  He's pretty great.  If you read my last post then you know that I bought WHITE enamel paint on accident. Well, I decided to use it on some of my jars in the cabinet. I needed another (yes another) place to keep writing utensils.  I'm a teacher....we love all the writing things. ;-) This paint was perfect for the jars.  I love how the color turned out.  I cut up some old fabric for the ribbon around the top. A circular sponge made the just right polka dots and I taped off one of the jars and used chalkboard spray paint to cover the bottom. Yes, that's glitter on my workbench.  Every girl needs glitter all over her workbench, right?! The writing is v...

They Make a Tool for That???

I seriously don't know what I'd do without my neighbors. I currently have nice garage lights, a supply of repurposed wood, saw blades, saw horses and I'm sure countless other tools that my neighbors have supplied me with.  I probably drive them crazy!   These past few days I've been busy making pencil holders in my garage for several different people.  You can order here   or contact me by email . And then look what I did???  After all my hard work I went out to spray a clear protective laquer on it.  Uh huh, that is NOT clear...that is white!!  Why would they make a white protective coat?? I almost cried. HERE'S A TIP: ALWAY LOOK AT THE CAP OF SPRAY PAINT BOTTLES. Y'all....every night I'm sitting on the couch with "ice on my wrist" AND NOT THIS KIND OF ICE! I'm talking about the COLD ice that starts to burn after awhile.  Do you want to know why?? Well, for every hole in that pencil holder I have to drill...

Crafts on a DIME

Seriously....talk about changes. I didn't know that "I didn't know how to budget" until Mr. Kirby started teaching. Getting paid once a month almost killed us last month.....no lie. My teacher friends understand that December to January wait. Can I get an AMEN?!?  Thank goodness that's over until next year .                                         Truth. So we were thinking....what can we do that doesn't cost any money.  CRAFTS!! Little sass and I were feeling crafty this past weekend but remember, we didn't have any money!!! No problem, we got creative and crafty with the things we do have.   The first craft needed small sticks, an old picture frame, and a glue gun. I had some spray paint in the garage so I painted the frame gray.  Then I started piecing the sticks around the frame like puzzle pieces with hot glue.  I wrote some LOV...

Late But Loved....Mother's Day

To say we've been busy would be an understatement.  It's funny because if we are home at least one day out of the week it's considered a slow week.  I'm not complaining. I love my family and the time we spend together. I do have a small confession though...I've been running around like crazy mom that I almost forgot about getting my Mother's Day gift ready at school. It seriously became a last minute gift but I think it turned out precious and hopefully none of the mommas felt as though they were a last minute thought.  Hobby Lobby had everything I needed. 1) 1X1 mosiac tiles 2) ribbon 3) necklace loop (this is not the official name) 4) Modge Podge 5) strong ceramic glue (to attach the necklace loop) Considering I was running a little behind I'm happy this project was fast and easy. The kids wrote an "I Love You" message on the back of the tile and then Modge Podged their picture to the front. I made 1X1 pictures in Mic...

Treats for My Sweets...

Well, it's another Monday and I'm linking up with Tara for her Monday Made It Linky.  She always has so many fabulous teachers sharing fun ideas.  My first inspiration came from Run!Mrs. Nelson's Got the Camera .  She posted a list of rewards and incentives she uses in the classroom and I LOVED her idea for a treat tree.  I haven't decided yet if I would like to use it for 100's on spelling tests or meeting an AR goal.  I should probably work that out soon.  "Sweet Treats for you and me..." Earlier this week I linked up with Teaching in Room 6  to share my behavior chart.  I finally finished putting mine together and I found the cutest little clothespins. You can get my Behavior that Makes Cents at my TPT store if you would like to use it.  I cannot even imagine charging for any of the things that I make right now.  I am truly a newb at this, so until I feel like I have something worth selling all my things are free. ;...
