...Florida Here I Come!!

Oh me. Oh my. I am getting so excited. I'm excited to see my big baby.....which I should share some pics that he has shared with me since he left 2 weeks ago.

Uh huh. 2....yes, TWO pictures from this kid. Really?! Momma cannot do just 2 pictures. And only one of them is actually of him. In the meantime, my little sassy pants takes more pictures in a day than I have taken of her in her entire 9 years of life. Out of 30 pictures a day of what she is looking at, eating, thinking about, and dreaming of; 20 pictures are selfies. ;) <- no, she's not out of town.....just likes pictures.

She does LOVE t.v. I guess, but she we did spend a few days at art camp. She is a creative little girl. Love, love, love her.

I've had a very laid back, lazy start to summer so far. Mr. Sweet and I celebrated our 12 year anny. We had a fun filled night. We always do, though. He makes me laugh. We had some free tickets to the Dallas Museum of Arts event called Beautiful Bodies. Neither one of us we were really sure what it was BUT it was free and we hadn't ever been. That's kind of our anniversary rules, eat at a new place or go somewhere we have never been. We did both!

Yes, I am extremely immature and it was hard to seriously look at all these nude statues with other people being so serious about it. I'm obviously not very cultured.

I sure do love this guy. He makes me laugh and smile a lot. I can't wait to spend the next week in Floriday with him.

School?.....I have started my classroom theme for next year...yay! for me. I'm going with a gumball theme. I will share that when I get back from Florida....it's still in the works.

I've also been working on think tanks for next year. I know I had mentioned these in a previous blog and I really want to share them but right now, it's all based on what I received from 2 trainings and what I think it should look like and mine have NOT been kid tested.....yet. :) These are intended for the kids to work on independently while I am doing interventions. I'm excited about implementing these but I'm a little nervous about the organization and running of these since I've never done it......I will definitely share how it goes.

Reading Power Towers

When I should be getting ready for meet the teacher night and the first week of school I'm finishing up a fun little reading game. Ha!! It's what I do.......get sidetracked. I found this idea on Teacher Tipster , and it is so simple but a GREAT way to practice reading sight words. I absolutely LOVE games in the classroom.....and so do the kids. They don't even realize how much they're learning because they are so engrossed in the games. It's greatness!! All you need is a Pringles can and Dixie Cups. I bought Dixie cups from Costco because I wanted to make each one of my teamies this activity. Next I covered the Pringles can with a cover . (I made 5 different ones, please feel free to copy any or all if you want) Because these are the taller cans I covered them with construction paper first, then with the cover. Famous Americans Project

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when the kids complete a project and they are SO proud to share it with the class. This was a project that was sent home and the kids were expected to do on their own time with their parents (help)........now as a parent I understand a little of the dread of an at-home project BUT that's because we are looking at it ALL wrong. What an awesome and precious time that you get to spend with your child learning new things??....talking??....asking questions?? Your are making treasured memories!!--and if you could only see your child's face when they bring their project to school!! They are beaming with pride AND CANNOT WAIT to share all their new knowledge with their classmates.
