I'm BAAAAAck! Made It Linky and Summer Fun

Oh, little blog, how I've missed you! ....and it's Monday Made It #4 with Tara

I have truly taken on a project WAAAY bigger than me.  This little project is now going on 2 weeks and after bruised knees, blisters on the palms, and sore muscles, we are ALMOST finished.  (yes, I said almost, it's still not done)  But it's going to be beautiful.

This is the tile we've been laying in our house (almost entire house).  Isn't it beautiful??!!  This picture is without the grout but this little project has kept me from blogging, properly feeding my children, doing laundry (I'm okay with this), and leaving the house.

Summer Fun

We found small smooth rocks in our neighborhood and after they were nice and warm from sitting in the sun we colored them with crayons.

It was fun!!  Even my 14 yr old did this with us (although he wouldn't agree to have his picture made with them)

And last.........a sweet little find on Pinterest, that we turned into a father's day gift.
You write your messages with a dry erase marker! {gasp!} cute, huh?!  My lil' sass wrote because "you're the best daddy ever" then my bigger sweet came back and wrote this.  (it has to do with baseball and twitter.... ;)

Come back and visit me tomorrow, I want to share my writing folders with you.  Have a fabulous summer day!!

Reading Power Towers

When I should be getting ready for meet the teacher night and the first week of school I'm finishing up a fun little reading game.  Ha!! It's what I do.......get sidetracked.  I found this idea on Teacher Tipster , and it is so simple but a GREAT way to practice reading sight words.   I absolutely LOVE games in the classroom.....and so do the kids.  They don't even realize how much they're learning because they are so engrossed in the games.  It's greatness!!   All you need is a Pringles can and Dixie Cups.  I bought Dixie cups from Costco because I wanted to make each one of my teamies this activity.   Next I covered the Pringles can with a cover .  (I made 5 different ones, please feel free to copy any or all if you want) Because these are the taller cans I covered them with construction paper first, then with the cover.  (we got a little crazy with crafting this summer and my lil' sass got ahold of 2 of the lids and...

Famous Americans Project

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when the kids complete a project and they are SO proud to share it with the class.  This was a project that was sent home and the kids were expected to do on their own time with their parents (help)........now as a parent I understand a little of the dread of an at-home project BUT that's because we are looking at it ALL wrong.   What an awesome and precious time that you get to spend with your child learning new things??....talking??....asking questions??  Your are making treasured memories!!--and if you could only see your child's face when they bring their project to school!!  They are beaming with pride AND CANNOT WAIT to share all their new knowledge with their classmates.   The kids get to picked from a list of 50 or so people and then I sent home a list of different ways to present their information to the class. Pizza Box (Abigail Adams) Hanger (George Washington) Power Point (Jackie Robinson...

Hi Sweet Friends!  My big baby is turning 16 this weekend, so I'm here to give little gifts to celebrate.  Yay!!  You know that I'm going to share a few pics of him before you get your {freebies}. Okay, it's time for {freebies} or I'm going to cry.   { Freebie #1 } This is a center activity that integrates reading and math.  I've included 60 of the first sight words that are introduced in Texas Journey's basal.  The students will be reading these words and writing addition sentences to match.  They are also on the lookout for DOUBLES, because in this game DOUBLES are worth more.  You can pick this up at my TPT store. { FREEBIE #2 ) This is a math center activity to help the kids recognize the addend to create the double addition sentence.  They must be the first to fill their backpack with each school supply (addend). I've also included blank game boards and supply cards.  This gives the kids the oppo...
