Monday Made It #5

Oh sweet summertime...........where are you going???!!!  My list of things I want to make is getting loooonnnnggggeeerrr...  I truly look forward to Tara's Monday Made It Linky Party.  Now, the things I want to share this Monday may not be considered by some as "made it" BUT you should know that I stuck my own stickers on AND did all my own hot gluing. ;)

Okay, we have an amazing little boutique in town and my kids (parents) are always picking up little gifts for me. (so sweet) Well, this boutique has the cutest jewelry gift boxes........so being a teacher, I thought.......how can I use these in the classroom??  Let me show you!!
We all LOVE the desk fairy!!  This is the box she leaves on a desk with a soft peppermint inside.  (my kiddos LOVE those)
It says:

"Please eat this treat because you've been SWEET and kept your desk all nice and neat."

On the inside of the lid it says "Please return this box to your teacher. Love, The Classroom Fairy"

Not only does my Classroom Fairy look for neat desk BUT also neat handwriting.  .......And if she spots neat handwriting, then you could find this on your desk the next morning
a box always make a new pencil more special.  Right??!!
I try to pick a special new pencil based on that kid. (sports, glittery, mechanical......etc)
This box says "You've worked so hard at writing neat please enjoy this PENCIL treat."

The last thing I want to share is my birthday box for next year.  Again, this box was a gift from a student, and I have finally decided what I'm going to do with it.   A Birthday Box!!  (Can you guess the color scheme in my classroom???)
Does it count as "made it" if I just hot glued tulle on top???  Inside this box the birthday kiddo will find birthday stickers, pencil, birthday cupcake (prepackaged), and rockstar glasses.
I use Miss Bainbridge's birthday book (just love her) and every student writes a birthday message to the birthday kid as their morning work.  It's adorable!!

Share with me how you celebrate birthdays in your classroom.......I'd LOVE to hear!!

  4. I love your birthday box. I used to do the same thing in 2nd grade, the kids loved it! When it was their birthday I also put a sheet of laminated wrapping paper onto their desk for the day as a special placemat. Of course I had to make a couple of them since so many kids share birthdays...

  9. I love the "classroom fairy" treat idea. I teach 4th, but my kids would love this too. I saw some cute little note cards from the "desk fairy" and I was going to make some up, but I think making a cute little box would be much more exciting to have on their desk in the morning. Thanks for sharing.

I Monday MADE IT!!

Hi Sweet and Sassy Friends!!  I have some fun pictures of some things that I have made just in time for school to start and Monday Made It.  {insert cheering and clapping} Okay, first.......I didn't actually make the bench BUT I did repaint it and get it classroom ready.  That should totally count and the fact that I nearly took out the neighbor's window during the process.  {if your my neighbor reading this--I'm sorry and it's okay} Here is the before: {donated by a dear friend-LOVE her} I need you to picture this:  I'm on my front porch with the lid of the bench resting nicely on the back of the bench (easier for sanding).  I'm using a handy-dandy electric sander.  Super powerful.  I place the sander on the lid and push the button..........OH. MY. WORD. the board shoots across the yard towards the neighbors window. YIKES!!  A little embarressing but no one saw, so I pick it up bring it back and this time I hang on to it....

If you need to throw together a quick little gift please feel free to use these tags. { click here } Hop over to TBA to check out other { FREEBIES } this Friday. Have a SWEET day, friends!!

All Things Techy...and FREE

Well ya'll, I have so many wonderful things going on in the classroom and it's all things techy.  I cannot wait to share a few of them with you.   If you haven't stopped by our class blog then you should.     { Mrs. Kirby's Kid's Blog } These authentic pieces of writing just make me so stinkin' happy.  I constantly check my email throughout the weekend to see if they have written anything.  Not because I told them to but because they want to. (insert happy teacher dance right here)  I took my very first student bloggers to the school board and they told our school board what a blog is and why they think it's important.  I gave each one of the kids that presented a small journal, sticky notes and pens to write their ideas about things they'd like to blog about.  This is what their journals look like 2 days later.... These kids cannot get enough!!  Look at all their THOUGHTS... BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!   Look at...
